Nothing earth-shattering, but it looks cool: link I remember reading a couple of novels where swords were made from meteoric iron. One was the Silmarillion, where the dark elf Eol made two such swords. Another was an Arthurian novel (I forget the title); Excalibur was one such sword. |

As I understand it, before people had the technology to smelt iron ore, weapons were sometimes made from found iron meteorites. One pharoah had such a sword, it's in a museum. |

Ser Arthur Dayne's sword Dawn in Game of Thrones is not Vslyrian steel but probably meteoric iron. Hope to see him in flashbacks in Season 6 and Book 6. |

The primary Bear character from Golden Compass Iorek Byrnison had armor made from Star Metal. More recent read, James Rollins "Eye of God", the Cross of St. Thomas was made from 'a fallen Star'. |

Sir Terry Pratchett had a sword made that was forged from Iron off his own land and from meteoric metal, because he felt that since he was a knight he needed a sword. He was not knighted with a meteoric metal sword. |

In a movie James Bowie's knife was forged from "star stone." |

I can't recall the name of the book or the author. I remember borrowing it from my dad in the 1980s. Bedivere was the narrator, and he was Arthur's foster brother in this version. Also, Merlin was a title here; Celidon was the man's actual name. |

So… if some mythical creature says that "any weapon from this earth can hurt me"… these weapons are the way to get around such claim? |

That's one way to interpret it. |

Cool! I always was fascinated by "star stone" made into weapons. I'm going to introduce one into my resumed fantasy gaming. I'll give it some thought…. |
