link 'Three Americans and a Briton who foiled a suspected terror attack on a train have received France's top honour from President Francois Hollande. Mr Hollande presented Spencer Stone, Alek Skarlatos, Anthony Sadler and Briton Chris Norman with the Legion d'honneur at the Elysee Palace. Two other unnamed passengers will receive the honour at a later date.' Quick reaction from the French – perhaps other countries should follow this example. |

A well-deserved honor. Here's hoping the US government follows suite. Dave |

"… Here's hoping the US government follows suite." US has already given them a certificate printed on 100% authentic paper, a "Stop Workplace Violence NOW!" bumper sticker and a coupon for free sprinkles with the purchase of 2 ice cream sundaes. |

Maybe it will start a popular uprising against terrorism worldwide. |

And they beat the terrorist up with his own gun. Now that's tough! Kudos to the Air Force and the National Guard for training two such fine men, and an equal salute to the others for their bravery and selflessness. The award is well deserved by all. As for the idiot punk, guess that coward's "soft target" turned out to be harder than he thought. May it be ever thus to his ilk. |

Was impressed with the fact that the Frenchman who first grabbed the AK and ended up being shot has requested anonymity. Although considering the rise in terrorist activity in Europe that might be prudence rather than just modesty. At any rate, the awards awe well deserved. |

The French behaved very well. Kudos to the brave men and the Hollande government. |

Well deserved by these men, well handled by the authorities. |

Oops, expatriate American professor living in France was shot after the French banker grabbed the gunman from behind and the professor tried to get the AK. Amazing how the story evolves as facts get sorted out. |

Although considering the rise in terrorist activity in Europe that might be prudence rather than just modesty. Actualy there is no rise in terrorism, Terrorism has been a common happenig in europe since the end of WW2. And most of the terrorist happenings are by non muslims groups. |

"Actualy there is no rise in terrorism, Terrorism has been a common happenig in europe since the end of WW2." Very true. "And most of the terrorist happenings are by non muslims groups." Only if you average out the terrorist incidents since 1945 or skew the statistics by factoring in Breivik's massive body-count (counting each person killed/wounded as a single 'terrorist incident' instead of counting the whole atrocity as a single 'terrorist incicent'). Aside from Breivik, some relatively low-level Northern Irish incidents and occasional far-right nutters setting fire to mosques, the majority of Western European terrorism in the last few years is most definitely Islamist in origin. |

In the last few years. Remember the 70s when some Red faction was always grabbing an airplane! Or the bombs planted by the Provos. |

What does Whoopie Goldberg and Bob Dylan have that these young heroes do not? The Medal of Freedom. |

LH, Yes, that's why I said 'in the last few years' (I was thinking of the last decade or two). |
