Was there an actual prize, or just a mention in the Marvel Comic? They kept it secret.

Originally the "prize" was seeing your letter in print in the comics. Later Stan the Man began mailing out empty envelopes. I never won one, but one of the guys in my elementary school did. Lucky dog!

At first, there was literally no prize; later on Marvel started mailing a specially-marked envelope, which was empty.

P.S. Kudos to Jpattern2 for typing faster than me; sadly, there is no prize. laugh

I have to say I'm disappointed! I thought it was something cool.

I'm browsing some of these older threads, and trying to resist necro-posting,but thought you might be interested to know that in the very early years of the "new" Marvel, there was a prize:five bucks. I guess it got too expensive, and when the new superhero titles really took off, they probably figured they didn't need it. That's not the reason Stan Lee gave at the time,of course.
