Sometime within the last week or so, a new icon appeared on the right end of my desktop toolbar, between the "show hidden icons" and battery charging status bar. It looks like a lopsided "window", naturally. White. And it's the portal to "Get Windows 10". I have Windows 7 on my machine. I see that Windows 7 is supported until 2020. My 'puter will be dead and toasted long before then, or I will be very much surprised. So I will NOT be getting any new OS on it!? Is there any way to remove this annoying icon?… |

I wish I had Windows 7 on my main computer, I have 8 and it gives me no end of hassle. I have that icon have used it to register I can't say 10 cannot be worse than 8 (Vista was) but I need something else. x42 |

You can´t make it go away completely, but you can move it out of the way. All you have to do is drag and drop it into your hidden icons file on the tool bar and it will stay there. It´s there, but at least you can´t see it unless you click on show hidden icons. |

From what I've gathered, win 10 is Microsofts attempt to get in good with pc gamers. With promised big performance boosts ect. |

The little bastard icon keeps coming back. Grrr! I keep poking it back into "hidden icons" and it keeps popping up on my tool bar. Not right away. But I've noticed it twice today already and banished it twice…. |

Mine isn't on the screen, but in the shortcut bar. I don't plan on getting Windows 10 anytime soon. |

Yes, the shortcut bar is where it is: I have all my desktop icons hidden. Each time I boot, there it is. I drag it over to "hidden icons" and usually it stays there until I reboot, but not always…. |

On Plus boards, Ranting, Windows 10 icon. Advise them the Windows 10 reminder icon is a Window 7 update. They need to uninstall that update then set it to not install again. They need to Google which update it is. I share their pain. This is the only time my account being locked has bothered me:-)
