So I'm finally getting to do a bucket-list tour of Normandy this summer. The list of "must-see" sites is getting really long. Are there any sites and/or museums that sound good on paper, but not really worth the time? Or perhaps more diplomatically, what ones are better left for the next trip? |

The Rangers Museum, Commando Kieffer, and Musee America Gold Beach where underwelming, theres another one in an old Nissan hur that is just a collection of decaying militaria thats just depressing. The Suprises were Juno beach centre and the Falaise gap museum, they were brilliant, the former because of the excelent beach defences tour and enthusiastic guides and the latter for its commanding view of the Gap and a clear topographical understanding of its importance in the battle. |

I would also add in that the Bayeaux tapestry was a highlight of my trip – something you may miss as its not WWII related. Villers Bocage was also underwhelming -- its just a pretty village. On the other hand, I didn't intend to go there, I just suddenly found myself there as I was navigating around. |

We're staying in Bayeaux, so the cathedral & tapestry are both on the list. CCollins: theres another one in an old Nissan hur that is just a collection of decaying militaria thats just depressing. Was that the Musée D-Day Omaha? The description seems to match what I've seen online. Thanks for the tips! |
