Many choices out there; please let me know what you have read personally that is balanced and broad in coverage. Something colonial period until now; something to help a friend who has vacationed in Cuba (we are Canadian) and has some quite left-wing friends sort out her thinking without swinging too far the other way. Yup, balance is hard with this subject but give it your best shot please. Parameters (1) in print in paper (I'll go over $20 USD but you will hear my wallet creak) (2) Things you have read yourself and think worth others reading (3) An entertaining read. My friend is well educated but not a history buff. Thanks in advance everyone! Oh, and yes I am still going strong, just not gaming at the moment. Fortune's wheel, not to worry. All my minis still have safe homes here. |

This one has good reviews: link Personally I've only read about Cuban history in the context of other things, and to visit 'The Rough Guide to Cuba' was perfectly adequate:) |

Thanks, Martin. I think you are right about adequate to visit; this is a well read and intelligent woman and I sense a chance to get her interested in history through a topic she cares about. |
