No clue as to who they are – if it was DC I'd guess at "Lady Flash" or "Flash Woman" or "Bazinga Girl". But I got nutin' |

Now rebranded, and redesigned as Captain Marvel. With a new more "PC" costume. (and really bad hair) link The story and the character are still one of my favorites, but I really really HATE the faux-hawk. |

Ithought Captain Marvel was a bloke. He is in the pictures on his Wiki page link Did he discover he was a woman trapped in the body of a man trapped in the body of a superhero ? |

Someone, BTW, should make that figure : " a woman trapped in the body of a man trapped in the body of a superhero ". |

Captain marvel was a man. (never changed thankfully) But the orginal Captain Marvel, Mar-vell of the Kree Empire, died. Ms Marvel (Carol Danvers) became a superhero when she accidentally got imbued with some of Mar-Vell's powers. She took on the name Ms Marvel. She continued as such for years after Mar-Vell's death. Recently though, in an effort to rebrand and "modernize" the character she has changed her costume, changed her hair, and taken on the title of Captain Marvel. I still like Carol Danvers, but I'm not a huge fan of the changes. She was always a strong, independent woman (Air Force test pilot etc) while still being feminine. Now they seem to want to turn her into a She Male. As if the only way for a female superhero to be strong and independent is to be one of the guys. I am fearing that one day she'll tell Jessica Drew she should dump Hawkeye and come back to her apartment. |

This was the original Captain Marvel:
He was created by Fawcett Comics in 1939 to exploit the superhero craze started by Superman. Fawcett ceased publishing the character in 1953, as a result of copyright litigation filed by DC Comics. link This is the other (Marvel Comics) Captain Marvel:
He was created in 1967, at which time Fawcett had ceased publishing superhero comics, and DC had yet to publish their version of the original character. link Nowadays, the original character has been formally re-named "Shazam" (which many casual readers already thought was his name), and the Marvel Comics Captain Marvel is dead. I was thinking just the opposite. She needs to get busy with some scissors to cut some of that costume away. |
