Interested in a new computer but would like some customization and don't want to use Dell, Gateway or a big box retailer. Any suggestions? Would like to do some light gaming, if that helps. |

Think about what you would like and how you would use the computer and check into a custom build. |

That's what I mean -- anybody know any good US custom builders? |

I recently had one built by CyberPower online. A low end gaming rig customized to what I want. A good price and no real problems so far. |

Buy any of the gaming or pc rags – maximum pc, pc gamer, etc, and see page after page of builder ads.,.. |

I've been buying most of my computer equipment from Microcenter over the past few years. I don't do much gaming, but I know they carry all of the parts for that sort of machine. I have not used them to build anything custom, but I think they do assemble computers, as well as sell the parts. |

just grab a builders kit from Tigerdirect and do it yourself. its not really that hard. |

What napthyme said. Just mind that if you add components to the base kit, that they are compatible with the kit's original contents. |

Thanks, I didn't know they had kits. Thought you had to part it all yourself and that sounded like too much work for me. I can plug things in OK, but knowing what to plug in is challenging. That's an interesting link, Star Ranger. Bookmarked it. Thanks. |

I've also used CyberPower three times. First time was perfect. Second time multiple parts came loose and the system looked like someone who knew nothing about computers put it together. That one got returned. Third time a nice gaming system for my son. Has worked very well. |
