Our local theater has one screen for D-Box movies. If you aren't familiar with this it is a system that moves your seat about depending on what is happening on the screen. Now that sounds like fun, it isn't. The problem is seat movement doesn't match what you are seeing on the screen. For instance, you are seeing the side of a stopped car which speeds away. Your seat tilts back so you are experiencing the acceleration of the car. But your eyes are telling you something else so the seat movement doesn't make sense to you. Unlike the movie rides at amusement parks, which allows you to see the action from the characters point of view, this system just seems to move your seat for no reason. And it will cost you extra for the ticket. |

Sounds awful
plus, at our local theater, the rickety old seats move around for no extra charge. |

I wasn't too impressed with it. The occasional lurch along with a dramatic camera-swoop was quite effective, but most of the time it just felt like someone was kicking the back of my seat. |
