Even under radio silence, you can passively receive, right? Or am I missing something?

That is part of the Hmm factor. I think the USN likes to keep in touch with its ships.

We always received radio traffic.

The novel was worth reading but it was set during a different time when nuclear war was the boogyman.

It also could be (I stress that) very interesting. However with Michael "KaBLAMMM!!!!!" Bay, it could also be an explosion festival of suckage as well. Still, I'd give it a go.

Radio silence does not mean you don't listen, only that you don't broadcast. You always listen, how do you get orders or even weather reports if you don't listen and being in the Antarctic you need weather reports. Not to mention news updates on things like wars and pandemics and such.

I'll watch it. I was disappointed that ABC canceled 'Last Resort,' so I'll watch just about anything, even if it's from Michael Bay.

Besides, Rhona Mitra's in it and Jayne from Firefly.

Is this a movie or a TV series?

Wasn't there a waterlogged drama about a submarine with Andrea Braugher that fortunately sank without trace a few years back.

The book (which was about the aftermath of an atomic war), contained one of the most disturbing/sad scenes I have read in a work of fiction. And a VERY disturbing "conclusion".
