Wow, I thought he had passed long ago. He was a huge influence in my childhood fascination with the fantasy genre.

A genius and a hard worker – and produced some really magical moments in the cinema, incredible the character he got into the wire frame stop motion figures.

Thanks for the wild ride !

The GREAT Ray Harryhausen and his movies that have become my all-time favorites:

Mighty Joe Young (1949)
The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms (1953)
It Came from Beneath the Sea (1955)
Earth vs. the Flying Saucers (1956)
20 Million Miles to Earth (1957)
The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (1958)
Mysterious Island (1961)
Jason and the Argonauts (1963)
First Men in the Moon (1964)
The Valley of Gwangi (1969)
The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1974)
Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger (1977)
Clash of the Titans (1981)

I was fortunate that I got to see three of these movies at a couple of my local drive-in theatres. Every movie that ever have or ever will use computer animation and special effects, no matter how large or small the amount, owe their biggest respect to Raymond Frederick Harryhausen.

Godspeed, Mr. Harryhausen, and thank you VERY, very much.

jpattern207 May 2013 8:52 p.m. PST

The last four in theaters for me. Gwangi on the big screen is awesome.
