There is a really funny scene at the end if Iron Man 3, after the credits.
Stick around for it…

yes it was worth the long wait, through all the useless, meaningless, pointless, credits

People love films crammed with action and special effects and then bemoan the credits? Who do you think put all that stuff together? Do not muzzle the oxen as they tread the grain.

It wasn't as good as the shawarma scene at the end of The Avengers, but it was funny.

My only real problem with long credits on FX-heavy movies is how s-l-o-w-l-y they crawl up the screen. Speed them up a little! If it's a little too fast too read every name, we can buy the DVD when it comes out, if we care.

There might be a rule about how fast they can scroll, though.

jpattern2,

I'm pretty sure there are rules about how much time the credits must be on screen. There are certainly rules about how every last person involved MUST get their mention.

Having said that, was nice to stay to the end. Girlfriend and I stayed when 90% of the people in our showing left. Felt like a lovely little extra treat just for us.

"Who do you think put all that stuff together?"

Don't care don't even care about the names of the actors or the writers or the 200+ FX artistes or the guy who made the food they all had on the 3 week of shooting, it really is all useless, meaningless, and pointless info.

Jana Wang06 May 2013 6:55 p.m. PST

If there are rules then they are self imposed. Mostly the only people who care about the credits are the people in the credits. It all seems a little narcissistic, especially when you get down to the level of 3rd assistant to the understudy, or caterer or dogwalker.

It could be worse. On the LOTR credits they include all the members of the Tolkien fan club.

I've been a closing credits watcher too. For some classic riffing on closing credits,"MST3K-The Movie" has it.

StarfuryXL507 May 2013 5:21 p.m. PST

Not self-imposed. I believe the credits listing everyone is a union requirement.

'…it really is all useless, meaningless, and pointless info.'

It is for us, but for the crew, those credits are their cv. Credits are usually mentioned in any standard contract, for non-union as well as union personal.

And a lot of happy grandmothers can freeze frame and say, 'That's my boy/girl.' Rovert DeNiro ate her/his sandwiches every day.

I wonder if anyone has the record elapsed time for a movie credit. IM3 seemed pretty long to me!

CPBelt18 May 2013 12:54 p.m. PST

We found it not worth the effort. A lame joke with Banner, no teaser.
