They missed one bit that isn't real. While the waterfall in Up is based on a real waterfall, the plateau with the separate pillar next to it is straight from the 1925 silent classic The Lost World (as is a smidgeon of the plot… but we knew *that* already). Just watched it in full for the first time tonight— the stop-motion animation sequences are still amazing, as are the compositing techniques, especially during the London rampage!
