Seems someone forgot to mention on the pack that they contain peanuts. The store is very sorry about this. link |

<Facepalm> The Stupid Nanny State World is Stupid. If you are a Enough to EAT a bag of Peanuts that you are allergic to, then you deserve what you get. Darwinism in action, I do not want you passing on your genetic heritage to the rest of the population. |

Check your butter and cheese packaging – it's likely it'll tell you it's made from milk. Now I have this theory – if you can read the label then you should be smart enough to remember a basic list of milk products – milk (duh !), butter, cheese, yoghurt. If milk was going to kill me then I'd find out what it looked like. Same with nuts – if you are allergic to peanuts (which is in any case a legume, not a nut) you ought to know what a peanut looks like. Is that very unreasonable ? |

But I thought they were real monkey nuts. |

Some people are soooo stupid. How stupid are they? They're so stupid they don't know a bag of peanuts contains, Wait for it, PEANUTS!!!!!! |

That is as dumb as banning peanut products from schools and work places. If peanuts and peanut butter were banned when I was going to school I would not have had a lunch 1/2 the time. |

Obviously none of you have family members with deadly food allergies, otherwise you'd not use terms like "stupid", "dumb" or "deserve what you get". While it seems idiotic to have a warning on a bag of peanuts which contains peanuts you'd be surprised what foods contain allergins. |

I am sorry if the concept of food label accuracy is not important to my cousins over the water, but after numerous food scares in the UK I am glad that this product has been withdrawn. As someone who suffers a rare food allergy from a product that is not commonly used (Spinach) I know the risk of poorly labelled food. (but then again – I wonder how many people planted these products expecting monkeys.) |

While it seems idiotic to have a warning on a bag of peanuts which contains peanuts you'd be surprised what foods contain allergins. Exactly – of course & absolutely you have to label up all the stuff that has hidden nuts or hidden lactose – but not peanuts and milk. And I swear I have even had the packet of peanuts with the message "may contain peanuts". May ? It better damn rootin' tootin' contain peanuts. |

I am not >saying< we should not have allergan warnings. I am saying it is STUPID to put a warning about Peanuts on PEANUTS. And I DO have family members with severe allergan reaction and it is NOT too much to expect them to know not to eat an un-peanut-labeled Peanut. |

You think it's stupid because you are thinking like an adult. Now imagine yourself as an eight year old kid with food allergies who has to read every label before eating anything. They generally don't know what food is made of and are taught to read the allergin warnings. They know to avoid a Snickers bar because of the allergin warning. If they see something called "monkey nuts" they may not think it contains peanuts (maybe it contains monkey). If they don't see an allergin warning on the label what do you think an eight year old kid will do? |

I'll admit to thinking like an adult at times. I have also been an eight year old. I didn't read labels then. At least not past the word chocolate. |

While I feel it's silly to label may contain peanuts on peanuts, there are people that have contact allergies to these things. I was doing a clean out of a house, and my coworker was cleaning up a pile of shells and peanuts. He never thought he was allergic to just touching them. |

what? BBC? This is real? Holy ! |

He never thought he was allergic to just touching them. There are lots of things that can cause quite serious allergic reactions that are not routinely labelled (at least not in the UK) Chilli pepper seeds – knew someone who found that one out the hard way! Kiwi Fruit – I was like "no way" but he said "yes, totally way". |

Is there a warning that they should open the bag first before consuming
. seriously, where's common sense? |
| Lentulus | 27 Apr 2013 4:16 p.m. PST |
They're so stupid they don't know a bag of peanuts contains, Wait for it, PEANUTS!!!!!! Perhaps dumb enough to not read the article, seeing that (in spite of the illustration supplied with the story) there was no reason for a purchaser to believe that the packet contained peanuts – which, as has been pointed out, is not actually a nut. There is also no reason to believe from the article that anyone allergic to peanuts actually ate any. But the manufacturer did violate a package labeling law, which is quite a serious thing and for good reasons. |
