"A strain of bacteria has been created that can produce fuel, scientists say.

Researchers genetically modified E. coli bacteria to convert sugar into an oil that is almost identical to conventional diesel. "

"Lighting farts."
That's all I am saying.

A strain has been "CREATED"?????

Isaac Asimov once wrote that alien astronomers on Neptune could surmise life on Earth because of the distinct methane wavelengths in an oxygen atmosphere. SOMETHING must be renewing it!

"What happens when it mutates?"

It learns to drive, the cars the fuel is powering.

Sugar?!? Between that and stupid Ethanol, are we going to turn all of our food into fuel?

The primary issue I've seen from "bio-diesel" from organisms is extracting it from the organism. Too much energy is consumed in the process. That's a problem they'll solve eventually.
