Okay, this is a light hearted (read, Humorous) comment, so before you stand in line for your pitchforks on the left and fire brands on the right…

I like Diane Sawyer, she's atractive, witty and intelligent.

But for ALL the years I have watched or seen her on TV, I have come to the conclusion that she only has two (2) basic, standard facial expressions:

#1 Her constipation medicine has not yet kicked in.

and, even worse

#2 Her constipation medicine just kicked in!

Any nay sayers out there amongst youse guise?

I cannot disagree.

I've never seen it kick in.

Yep, that sums up Diane Sawyer. Well, the #1 and #2 parts. Not so much the other stuff. wink

I am sorry guys, but I must confess that I cannot stand Diane Sawyer, especially when she conducts an interview and does everything she can to get the subject to cry. The camera slowly zooms in on a single tear running down the victim's cheek and…voila…the money shot. Break for commercial, and an announcer sells you a stomach remedy.

She is a prime example of all that is wrong in our culture. Marketing-driven empathy, pseudo-concern and hype, with plenty of hugs and condesending smiles to go around.

Can't stand to watch her long enough to learn the facial expressions.

Tumbleweed,

You are not wrong, but I think Ms Sawyer is ecplipsed in that department by Ann Curry, who could turn that fake sympathy thing off and on like a light switch.

Which one is the "lean forward with "earnest" expression on the face"?

Diane Sawyer's tone and delivery when reading the news brings back childhood memories of Miss Nancy on Romper Room with her Magic Mirror. Nope, can't take it for very long.

Andrew:

Roger that. Maybe it's a job requirement.

gweirda20 Apr 2013 6:15 a.m. PST

How did that go, again?

"Romper, stomper, bomper, boo. Tell me, tell me, tell me true…" ?

I just assume that's the expression a journalist might have when she knows that the next item coming up is "Breaking news – your bathmat may be killing you."

Stosstruppen20 Apr 2013 7:10 p.m. PST

At least Ann Curry is hot.

She is not Megyn Kelly. Diane is a bore.

And to think that once Jessica Savitch was the bane of newscasting, or regarded as such by many. I can't stand Sawyer, she seems the epitome of vacuous, insincere TV "news" broadcasting, everything that the film "Network" made fun of that has now sadly come to pass for normal.
