what's a "virtual PC"? Imagine a file on your hard drive that represents the entire hard drive of another PC. You start the Virtual PC program, it emulates an entire computer in a new window, etc. using the file as the hard drive. You then use the emulated PC as another PC on the one you are running. When you shut down the virtual PC, you can either commit the changes or simply forget them. The next time you "boot" the virtual PC it'll be a bit like that movie groundhog day. You can usually tweak the performance of the virtual PC. I give mine 2 CPU cores and 8GB of RAM from the physcial machine. Depends on the program. |
