I do that with fish all the time for my research. I stain the bones and cartilage with certain chemicals and then I put the fish into digestive enzymes. There is sort of an art to it as you want to make the muscle tissue transparent without having the fish fall apart. Then I use a little hydrogen peroxide for a final "kick" and there you go, a transparent fish with all of it bones and cartilage articulated and intact. Oh, BTW, the fish are dead before I start the process. |

I read deeper in again, and yes, they are seeing whether the process will work on at least parts of a human brain. It could help in research on autism, Alzheimer's, and other brain disorders. Of course, it will require brain donations from the deceased, but hopefully enough families will agree so that effective research can take place. |
