"Clear your calendars, brush off your cutoffs, and queue up "The Final Countdown": Arrested Development producer Mitch Hurwitz has announced the date of the season 4 premiere! Fifteen new episodes — one more than promised — hit Netflix on Sunday, May 26, at 12:01 AM Pacific, just in time for Memorial Day marathons.

The launch of Arrested Development season 4 on Netflix will be a proving ground not only for the show's audience in anticipation of a projected feature film, but for how the Netflix distribution model works when applied to original content established brands. Netflix has had substantial success debuting new properties, but this will be the first time an established television series has gone exclusive to the streaming network — let alone allowed fans to mainline an entire new season at once.

Netflix is explicitly committed to exploring and exploiting the binge-viewing model, more and more of its audience is getting used to the same. While Netflix doesn't release viewership numbers, critical response — and Wired's own informal survey – indicate that the first direct-to-Netflix original series, House of Cards, was particularly popular with viewers inclined to watch a whole series in only a few sittings…"
