Try working in organ procurement sometime. You get one of these stories every week during the summer. Those are just the ironic ones. I've been to hospitals where there were four traumatic head injuries that all came in within a hours. Most of them are ATV vs. motorcycles actually. But there are a fair number of motorcycles too. There were only a few that were wearing helmets, most of them were not. Helmets and seat belts really do save lives. |

There is or was (don't recall current status) a movement
in the NC legislature to do away with the mandatory
helmet law for motorcyclists. Our bike's been in the barn for three months (weather),
and if that law is passed (doubtful), it'll stay there
for a while. Don't want to run the risk of seeing the
results of such idiocy, even though we'd continue to ride
with helmets. Bad enough coming upon the results of a rider going down
while wearing a tank-top, shorts and flip-flops – but
with a helmet on, of course. |

Already happened here in Pennsylvania. One of my friends is a Mortician, and he likes to share amusing stories (to him). Some of these stories involve bike accidents lacking helmets… Damon. |
