This is an old story but, now you can buy salt made from human tears:

I wonder if anybody sells salt from crocodile tears?

The feelings stuff is Bleeped text. The chemical composition of tears (and many (but not all) bodily fluids) is known not to be signficantly affected by emotional state or stress levels.

Salt from tears, however, does have roughly the same mineral balance as blood (which varies from person to person and so on), which might make it a "healthier" way to take salt – with minerals in roughly the same proportion that your body wants them.

Of course, sea salt is also similar in mineral composition (it's like we evolved from creatures that used sea water for blood), so (in the absence of specific research), it is reasonable to say that it would have roughly the same health benefits as tear salt.

And it's much less creepy.

Probably more hygenic than the South Park way:

That is one of my favorite South Park shows above. Very twisted.

The part that was missed out:
"Salt Made From Tears combines centuries-old craft with the freshest human tears which are gently boiled, released into shallow crystallisation tanks, then harvested by hand and finally rinsed in brine,"*
So your actually getting sea salt, possibly with a teeny tiny bit of tear in it (and a lot more more fish wee).

So I guess the "snake oil salesmen" are alive and well!

Probably more hygenic than the South Park way:

And you don't have to orchestrate the killing of someone's parents, stealing the bodies, chopping them up, and making chili out of them in order to get those tears!

How the hell would anyone want to eat anything made from a human body, be it tears from mostly sea salt or chili parts? ewww, gross. grin
