I mean, I really don't like the guy, for numerous reasons, and that's putting it mildly.

BUT…Oblivion looks like it may be a very good movie.

(IF it gets a good review, I may go see it. If not, I'll wait unitl it shows up on cable).

What say youse guise?

Looks good to me, too. I feel Cruise has improved quite a bit in his acting skills and I can ignore just how nutty he is in real life if he's in something that appears as interesting as Oblivion (or Minority Report, or War of the Worlds, etc.).

Or is this April Fools? 8)=

I don't really know Tom Cruise very well so it is difficult for me to have much of an opinion on him personally.

That being said I've liked most of the movies I've seen him in and he is a pretty good actor.

Oblivion, from what I've seen, looks like it will be a good film and I'll go see it if I have time or will certainly get it on netflix as soon as it is available on DVD.

There is an old saying that a stopped clock is right twice a day. Tom can get it right on occasion.

It's just too hard for me too forget the guy is Tom Cruise, infamous nutjob. They might as well have a chimp playing his part as far as I'm concerned. There are plenty of good actors out there, I'm suprised he's still a big enough draw that they continue to cast him. Maybe he's big in Asia?
Also, nothing about the previews I've seen suggests 'good'… just 'full of FX/CGI'.

He was a very decent actor some years ago and then he had to get involved with some weird cult called Hollywood before joining Scientology.

Pass.

Garand01 Apr 2013 9:38 a.m. PST

I may go see it. I agree that Cruise is nuttier than a Snicker's bar, but I actually like the movies he's been in. Doesn't make me a cult supporter for it though…

Damon.

PS: Praise Xenu!

I like Tom Cruise. I thought he was great in Minority Report and The Last Samurai. I look forward to the movie.

Look, if nutty people bother you you have the wrong hobby.

Yeah if you've ever listened to an interview with Nicole Kidman she is pretty crazy too, I'd bet you can rarely find a better performance from an actress than she gave in Dogville though.

Ability and personal belief should be separate. If it's good, I'll see it. The only person I have blacklisted is Will Farrel. Not a good actor and not funny.

Cincinnatus02 Apr 2013 6:24 p.m. PST

It's funny how many people can't see talent because they see the personality.

The guy can do some characters VERY well. Maybe not one of the greats but definitely one of the goods.

Forgot to add – he certainly doesn't take himself too seriously and I respect anyone in Hollywood who doesn't. He was great in Rock of Ages. A very funny movie.

Normally, I am not a fan of Tom.
But…
This I want to see.

PS. Phil Hall, YOU, my friend, are dead on.
Farrel is neither and you need to add annoying.
This one is for you… beer

I'll watch it. I can separate the actor from the man. Besides, he didn't fight Katie Holmes in their divorce settlement. He pretty much rolled over.

Tom Cruise aside, a lot of people are saying that the film is visually beautiful, but only one step above AVATAR as to the plot. :(

Then again, as they say, if you are congenitally incapable of saying something nice about anything, the internet is for you. :)
