My mother and older Sister lived for SHOW TUNES!!!!!!! ACK! To this day, I'll be minding my own business and all of a sudden I start humming
"I wanna wash that man right outta my hair" or "Camelot" I yelled at my sister about this last week when she came down for vacation! My only revenge is that me rotten daughter yells at me for the same thing, she's minding her own business and all of a sudden she can't get "Stormbringer" or "Mistreated" out of her head. Still though
SHOW TUNES! UGH! |

My mom knows the lyrics to absolutely no songs. She does sing along with a "Dee, dee, dee, dee" on the ones she likes. |

Thanks for this thread Chook. I haven't thought about my mother's singing for a long time. When I was very small, she'd sing Pony Boy to me: YouTube link |

My mother mainlined on the old music hall songs (she was an "older mum" – born in 1910) but she also had a repertoire of
interesting
Army songs thanks to my Dad, to which she knew all the rude words. She was a trained concert pianist, and her idea of housework was 5 minutes dusting and half an hour playing popular songs on the piano. Ah, memories

Pictors-my mum does that, except she sort of knows a few words, which makes it funnier. She once sung that Dolly Parton hit "Charlene". I said 'Mum, you only know one word, and that's wrong
