You are right, there is no cure for stupid. The end result of a brawl being two men being crippled and another most likely, if convicted, going to prison was not bad enough, the writer had to add in: "A fight, which allegedly included racial slurs,". As if two men suffering life changing injuries wasn't bad enough, the San Francisco paper wanted to let you you know this was a serious fight if that was brought up. The basic facts of the story were not horrific enough, bad names were also used. Does that now make it a "hate" crime? |

In Britain it does. Assaulting someone after using a racial slur at them gets you a longer sentence. |

I've never understood this. You beat a person with a bat, but if you call him a name while doing it, you're really in trouble then. There was a case in which a homosexual man was beaten to death because he was a homosexual. Many people in the States were upset because the animals who did this were not being charged with a "hate" crime. The state responded that they were being charged with capital murder and facing a possible death sentance. What more do you want us to charge them with? Bad manners? |
