Alvin has passed on at the age of 68. Reports only say that he was having "routine surgery" in Spain when he developed post-op problems and and passed quickly from complications.

I got to see them after Woodstock, in Ft. Worth in late 69 and at the Atlanta Festival in the summer of 70, and they were awesome both times!

While their albums always met with mixed acceptance, they were one of the best live bands around, and Alvin was one heck of a lead guitarist. One of Alvin's later projects was an album with a group of the old Tennessee boys assembled by Scotty Moore and recorded in Scotty's basement studio. Well worth a listen, "Alvin Lee in Tennessee".

I saw them in concert years ago. I had seats right up front. They were awesome. Alvin's guitar playing was fantastic to watch. It was great show. The world is a sorrier place, but Alvin's jamming with some truly great rockers now. RIP

"I'd Love to Change the World" – one of those songs I remember hearing at least once on the radio back when it was released in '71. Those powerful lyrics and that wailing lead guitar are echoes from a memorable time. Bill/Sir William, that's VERY cool to know that you were in ol' Fort Worth back in the day. Must have seen Ten Years After either at the then-new Tarrant County Convention Center or at Will Rogers Coliseum.

Godspeed, Alvin, and thank you very much. peace

Saginaw;

Yep, spent my "formative" years hanging around the local clubs, Trinity Park in Ft. Worth and Lee Park in Dallas. Saw TYA at the Tarrant County Convention Center, but many more acts at Will Rogers and even the old Panther Hall Ballroom. Then of course there was the Texas International Festival in Lewisville in 69 and Atlanta in 70. A great time to be a teenager/young adult in Texas!

I last saw him on of things the Spinal Tap reunion DVD when thay played at Albet hall. He only got one song but still ripped it up. The song hand a key change on every measure.
