Stompin Tom Connors , an unique Canadian country musician , has passed away at he age of 77. He had a very unique style and was very popular. His "The Hockey Song" is played at hockey games in Canada and in many parts of the US.

He got the nickname from his habit of stomping his food to keep time using a board paced on the stage. I saw him perform several times at the infamous Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto and he was always great. He will be missed but his music will live on.

Wow. Sort of person you think will always be there, just 'cause they always have been there (kinda like Wayne and Shuster, come to think of, and they're both long gone as well)

Saw him play once… unforgetable amount of passion and energy as a performer.

That is a shame. I had a French Canadian colleague who subjected me "Stompin" Tom on our frequent trips together in a car. In the end, I kind of liked it. Very sad news.

Wow. Sorry to hear this and come in so late on the subject.

Always loved "The Hockey Song".

RIP.
