After putting up with The Bible, I did not have the stomach to sit and torture myself with Vikings. The trailers and commercials turned me right off. "The Bible" combined all the worst features of cheap documentaries with cheap cheesy special effects. This is what happens when you "watch" TV from your painting table and the remote is too far away to reach. |

The Vikings was surprisingly good. Seemed to have been done more as a movie than as a made-for-tv special. The Bible had decent writing, but the acting and effects were pretty poor sadly, and ruined the overall impression. |

I chuckled over the image of the Supreme Being reading a Variety review of the Bible! I think the jury is still out on the Vikings. The first episode was mainly developing the characters. |

Haven't seen either one. When sports are not available, I watch British cop shows on NetFlix while I paint. Rant on that forthcoming

The Bible suffered from attention deficit disorder editing. The two "angels" hacking apart half of the population of Sodom in slow-mo was laughable. Abraham's son looked like a girl. I don't think I will bother to watch episode two. The Vikings showed promise, but like Waco Joe said, they spent their first episode creating their world. Next week might be better. |

I enjoyed the Vikings one, but didn't watch the Bible one. But I'm a sucker for Vikings and I'll watch anything with Katheryn Winnick in it. ;) Seriously though, I think it has potential as long as they stop "name dropping" Norse culture all over the audience. I realize why it was necessary, but I hope they dial it back now that they've laid out their setting. |

I've been having a discussion about the law cases held at the Thing with some freinds in the know. Apparently the second case, the murder one, is straight out of one of the Sagas. There was a critique of the episode on Medevalist.net which didn't think the court scene was done very well, but it sounded like they were using good Norse law tradition, at least for the second case. Wife (AKA 'Bible-as-history-scholar) felt that 'The Bible' was two thumbs down. Vikings – undecided on this one. Some good spots, some not so good spots. Maybe it'll smooth on out. |

But I'm a sucker for Vikings and I'll watch anything with Katheryn Winnick in it. ;) Second that. I thought it was well done and entertaining. You can watch the 2nd episode at the History channel
although there are just as many annoying ads as on TV. Good stuff, unless you're a priest at Lindisfarne history.com/shows/vikings |

Got burned by watching eight hours of End of the World over the weekend. Biker haircut on Ragnar seems pretty foolish. The idea that England would not be well known to the Danes seems ludicrous since their cousins spent the last 400 years conquering the Britons |

Well, it seems to have the makings of '90120 with axes'. |

Agreed with Mr. Lundberg. I am unsure who cuts our hero and his son's hair, but clearly he uses an axe. The earl who did not believe there was land to the west was very, very poorly informed. Seafaring people share information about places they've been. It was like my not believing in, say, Delaware, because I've never been there. Then again, I have worked for people who didn't know the most basic knowledge that 'everyone knows'. |

I have been to Delaware. It's California I have my doubts about. |

I saw bits and pieces of the viking show. For a minute, I thought I was watching an episode of Sons of Anarchy. |

Haven't watched the Vikings yet but saw the Bible. What others have said, poorly done and very silly in places. |

I didn't even bother with the Bible show. A few seconds of the ninja angel scene was all I needed. |

Vikings was Ok, can't really root for the lead seeing that he slaughters people( I know I know another time another place) Plus the stole the face washing snot blowing right from the movie "The 13th warrior" Would anyone know if Vikings really did that? |

I watched the vikings show for a little while but never caught a glimpse of Adrian Peterson. |

Didnt bother with the Bible. Vikings is decent. As stated, not too bad for Tv. Interesting that they started with Lindisfarne. Be curious to see where they go next (Scot Isles? Ireland?). Travis Fimmel is a good lead man. "Katheryn Winnick" Agreed. VERY nice! Glad to see they slaughtered most of the Monks and took the others as slaves. I was affraid the History Channel would go to soft on this portion of their history. Rest of the cast: link |
