Only time I ever heard him was the first Opening Day at the Ballpark in Arlington. He played the Star Spangled Banner once solo and then with the choir that was there. Absolutly incredible, and that's with his piano parked in the middle of a baseball field. Imagine what it is like somewhere like Bass Hall. Martin |

A terrific talent who encouraged others to follow in his footsteps. No one who was not a contemporary can appreciate what an important event his triumph was. I played groves in his recording of the First Piano Concerto. A fellow Texan to be proud of. Thanks Maestro. RIP. |
