Wow! Shirley Bassey, 76, blew the doors off the Dolby Theater with her rendition of the Goldfinger theme a little while ago. When she hit that last note she got a well deserved standing ovation. Amazing!

I tuned in for 2 minutes. That was long enough to see a Bleeped text host get wildly applauded for anti-Christian and in particular anti-Catholic bigotry.
So, I turned it off.

The Oscars are usually nothing but Hollywood trying to convince the hicks how virtuous they are.

For my bleep read "intelligent donkey".

Personally, I don't have much interest in watching Hollywood fellate itself.

Kristen Stewart looked like she had been rode hard and hung up wet.

If you like that sort of thing, then that's the sort of thing you'll like.

And, yeah, Kristen Stewart is just a skag. I've never understood her appeal. But, then, if you like that sort of thing . . .

Just watched Dame Shirley's bit online. Amazing that she still has those pipes at 76.

Best host ever!

"host get wildly applauded for anti-Christian and in particular anti-Catholic bigotry."

Really? I must've missed that part. Or I just don't get bothered as much as some during comedy sketches (funny or not)

Doctor Who special on BBC America, or Hollywood patting itself on the back?

Doctor Who won.

Hell of a singer.

Bassey was good, but so was Adele. It was a night of great musical performances, from the Les Miz cast to Streisand to Norah Jones.

Tacitus: Best host ever!

I don't know about that, but MacFarlane's certainly one of the funnier ones I've seen in quite a while. The segment with William Shatner as Capt. Kirk was great, particularly the re-enactment of 'Flight' with sock puppets:

Then there's his patriotic ditty 'We Saw Your Boobs' of course:

I didn't watch, but those two bits were great! Thanks, 28mm.

Didn't watch it either. Read about some of it later on.

Sorry I missed Dame Bassey and Adele.

Couldn't care less about the rest of the show, or the natterheads involved.
