link He lived a long life, but I really feel sorry for him for the fact that he experienced the losses of two of his child co-stars, namely Dana Plato, who played his daughter, and Gary Coleman, who played his youngest adopted son. Thankfully, the other actor who played his older adopted son, Todd Bridges, got his life back together after what could have been a very tragic ending. By the way, the article is wrong in that Bridges is the last surviving member of the original cast, as actress Charlotte Rae, who played housekeeper "Mrs. Garrett", is still alive. Godspeed, Mr. Bain, and thank you very, very much for the memories and your service to your country in WWII. I salute you, sir. |

RIP Read in one obituary that Diff'rent Strokes couldn't be made today as the fear to cause controversy is now too overwhelming. |
