Dame Commander is the female equivalent of Knight. CBE is one below that, then OBE and then MBE. At the investiture the CBEs and Knights/Dames are grouped together though. Well done Kate, CBE is a closed order, only 8960 Commanders at any one time. |

I drove my friends nuts with her music in my 20s. A lot of them were 'punks' and didn't like anything implying musical ability or 'pretty'. I'd plop her on the stereo and they'd scream,'Oh gawd! Not that friggin' shrill harpy crap!' (that's the G rated version). |
