What a legacy. One of America's great military leaders. I didn't realize he was as old as he was. Damn, he battled prostate cancer for 19 years. It's said news. |

Hard to believe that something like pneumonia felled him, but like Toshach said, he battled prostate cancer for 19 years, which probably contributed to a weakened system. General H. Norman Schwarzkopf was one of our most able and celebrated generals in modern times, and could probably be ranked up there with such legendary American generals as Patton, Grant, and many others. I can still remember his daily briefings to the press during the Gulf War, and, like his reputation before him, he COMMANDED that room. His reputation was such that the science fiction series 'Babylon 5' named a Nova-class dreadnought after him, which was seen or referenced in a few episodes:
Godspeed, General, and thank you VERY, very much for your selfless service to our country. I salute you, sir. |
