Thunderbirds and all his other shows were a major part of my childhood.

My first exposure to the world of Gerry Anderson was the Supermarionation series 'Stingray', which was shown locally in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex back in the late-'60s. My next exposure was 'UFO', which I saw in syndication back in 1970-71. Then there was the movie 'Journey to the Far Side of the Sun' (a.k.a. 'Doppelgänger'), which was sometimes shown on local tv in the early-'70s. Finally, there was 'Space:1999', which a local station showed from 1975-77 late on Saturday nights. Mr. Anderson's creative imagination definitely spurred my childhood interest in science fiction, and even though today's technology can create fascinating worlds and universes, Mr. Anderson just had that certain "magic" that CGI could never capture.

Godspeed, Mr. Anderson, and thank you VERY, very much for sharing your vision of the future with us.
