Perhaps Gary Mitchell? The blonde female looks similar to Dr. Dehner?

… and some additional footage in the Japanese version of the trailer:

My vote is Mitchell, I think Abrams is messing with the fans in the Japanese trailer, after all, he's a master at viral tomfoolery…

Thanks Rassilion

looks good, looking forward to this.

Well, now that's one Star Trek movie I won't need to see. There is like a dozen violations of the laws of physics in the trailer alone.

Netflix streaming for me.

My vote is for Colonel Green, the leader of the last outbreak of organized violence on Earth, or for Dr Soong, who created Data and was one of the leading minds behind the Eugenics Wars.

Loki, perhaps??

Wait a minute…wrong movie…sorry grin

Looks like Trelane hit puberty and went into angry emo mode.

I loved the first movie and I'm looking forward to this one. It really doesn't show much of the plot other than really bad guy with a plan comes returns for payback.

If your criteria for movie viewing is whether the filmmakers violate physical laws, you aren't doing it right.

LOL

At any rate I am very excited. loved the first film. Glad to see the ST universe return to a meritocracy after the Communist Haberdashery of TNG.

The problem is things like people jumping 4 stories, landing intact, etc. destroy my suspension of disbelief.

It's one thing to see fantastic feats inside The Matrix or a Suckerpunch fantasy; but, when normal people do it in the (supposedly) real world it makes me laugh. If I want to see a comedy, it should not be inside my action film.

I tend to agree. But to play devil's advocate, if it is Khan, there might be a reason…

Personally I'm not thrilled with the new Trek for a number of reasons, but if it really is about Khan, that really makes me not want to see it…

Damon.

At the rate he's going In JJ Abrams vision of the world, the Tellarites will be the dominant faction.

Not being a fan of the first one, which made too much hash of the entire premise of Star Trek (and I despise the "street-punk" Kirk), I'm not expecting too much from this outing. I'm not sure who the villain is supposed to be— Lt. Mitchell (he of the original Kirk pilot episode)? Khan (one hopes not)? Colonel Green (look it up)? Zefram Cochrane after a twist in his restoration by "the Companion"? A Bleeped texted-off younger version of Gene Rodenberry?
I know— it's the real John Locke, out for revenge over his name being used to such muddled purposes in Lost… and to show the world that he had hair.

In any case, there looks like a lot of flash going on here… but will there be any substance? (The first film had none; my guess is this will follow suit.)

I predict that it will be a solid, high energy action flick (like the first one), but a horribly poor version of Star Trek (like the first one).

I got to see the last one for free… maybe I can pull off a similar deal when this one hits.

Not a fan of the new Trek, but it might be worth it to watch the Enterprise crash into San Francisco Bay :)

If it is a J.J. Abrams production, we can expect that the good guys and the bad guys will all be related by blood. For example, at the conclusion we will learn that the bad guy is actually Kirk's brother and his mom was behind the whole thing.

Wow! Looks like another busy day at the office!

One good thing about not being a die in a ditch fan of any particular franchise is that there's no need to sit seething at, or avoid a movie just because the cast are wearing the wrong hair gel.

Liked the first new one, will see this too!

stenicplus11 May 2013 3:13 p.m. PST

Saw it yesterday in UK.

Hmmm… If any of you fail to guess the entire plot line in the 1st 10 minutes then you should be ashamed.

Aslo… Bones. Really? I mean! Can they not give him some proper lines that don't invlove him being aghast, or incredulous or patronising or similar? Well, you'll see. More like "I'm a Doctor Jim, not an actor!"

Otherwise effects are good and it is entertaining.
