OK.
What happened to my computer?
I tried to do a Google Search, and got "re-directed" to some useless site called "Infomash".
How can I purge or whatever this from happening again?

Run something like Adaware or Spybot: search and destroy in case you've picked up something nasty.

Had similar thing for a while. Empty cache and history. Download (free) and run Winsockfix. Reboot.

My son keeps installing search bars when he down loads stuff – he refuses to listen to my 'DON't DO THAT'

What's a cache? Seriously! grin And I don't know what a "registry" is either!

Don't mess with the registry, unless you really like to hear the Computer Repair guy say "well, we can reload your operating system, but you'll have to reload all your games and programs yourself…"

I'll raise you there, my Dad keeps doing that and then complaining his searches slow up and most of his screen is toolbars.

Install malwarebytes, update it, and then run a scan.
