Today we began the space race 55 years ago. Many thanks to all who helped get us this far. Well done to the Russians who managed to kick start this whole thing. Hopefully we can keep it going.

Well done to the russians? they let a poor little dog burn to death on re-entry (the apparatus they had in place to quickly kill her utterly failed). thats a great start there.

The soviets have never been very nice to dogs, we all know what they did during WW2 with them.
