This morning, the wife and I staked out our spot at the top of Disneyland's "Mickey & Friends" parking structure. This was despite the fact that her office overlooks runway 25 south at LAX – I couldn't bring a camera. I also knew that other locations would be a major pain logistically.
I had originally planned to take half a day off, but since the flight had been delayed earlier, I just took the full day off. We got there at 9 figuring that we had two hours before show time – at least. A few hundred other people had the same bright idea so we all camped out on the upper level. Surprisingly, Disney wasn't prepared for this as they could've made major money if they'd brought up snack and drink carts. As it is, they eventually put parking control people on the upper level to guide newcomers to the area as well as opening up a parking lot for free.
After tooling around Northern California, the flight finally meandered down the coast (in atypical NASA fashion, the pilot said that they might add areas as they go).
The shuttle/carrier aircraft combo was escorted by two F-16s plus a NASA F/A-18 which was shooting photos.

I was hoping for more of a side view, but this works
It's hot, I'm sunburned and the flight was two hours late. It was so worth it.
Not the best shot due to haze, but this gives you an idea of how low it was
