I work as an International Advise in a UK university. We have become aware of a scam targetted at international students studying in the UK. Full details: link link Essentially these people ring up, telling you they are UKBA (UK Border Agency) and that you must pay them for some immigration irregularity, such as a missing landing card, and send a substantial sum (£500-600) via Western Union before the end of the day, or be deported. International students hear "UKBA, immigration, deported" and panic. Most UK universities are now running this information, but I thought I would highlight it here too. |
