I work as an International Advise in a UK university. We have become aware of a scam targetted at international students studying in the UK.

Essentially these people ring up, telling you they are UKBA (UK Border Agency) and that you must pay them for some immigration irregularity, such as a missing landing card, and send a substantial sum (£500-600) via Western Union before the end of the day, or be deported.

International students hear "UKBA, immigration, deported" and panic. Most UK universities are now running this information, but I thought I would highlight it here too.
