I had a conversation with a friend of mine this evening, and they were wanting to know if I either knew a private investigator or had used one in the past. I told them that I didn't know any, nor had I ever employed one, but that I would try and find out some information, and get back with them tomorrow. That's where you, my fellow TMPers, come in. Where would be a good place for my friend to start looking for a P.I. (Internet, phone book, etc.)? Also, what are some things they should be aware of in looking for the "right" P.I.? And most of all, what are some "red flags" they should be aware of? Thank you. |

You mean call any defense attorney, Saber6? Just look one up and call them? That's it? |

What does he need the PI for? There is a huge difference in skillsets between an insurance fraud investigator and one who specialises in missing persons. |

I employ 3 of them at various times. I agree that calling lawyers is best since we can cull out the good from the bad investigators, most of whom are retired law enforcement officers. I also agree that the task is important. There are some that specialize in cheats and some that work on cheating hearts. |

Maybe contacting a divorce lawyer? |

Nashville, are the ex-police the good or bad investigators? |

Brent has it. Call a divorce lawyer for a reference. When you talk to the PI see if he is a retired cop. That's a good thing. |

You may also look into GPS tracking devices and items in the local web spy store. This may help. I advise to take action ASAP. The longer you wait the worse it is in the end and the uglier it gets. God bless you and good luck. What PI mostly do is watch and follow and it will be expensive. It may take a week to three weeks to get the info you want. If he can do it himself or get a friend, it could save him big money. Check cell phone records. |

How to look for a private investigator? Turn around every hundred yards or so. He's the guy peering into a shop window. |

Be very careful on that GPS device advice. Tracking someone without their knowledge or a legitimate warrant can be a crime in some states. |

When interviewing prospects, wear a sexy red dress and heels. "I knew she was trouble the minute she walked into my office

Thanks, fellas. I gave my friend your suggestions, and she says that she'll now look for a private investigator based on the advice you've all given. Thanks again! |
