Printing Scenario Maps with Poster Software

You've got a scenario map, and you need to create some hills. Is there some way to just print out the map in very large scale, so you can trace the outline of the hills you need to build? The Editor finds out...

If I do a Google Images search, the results page refreshes every 5 seconds. Then when I leave Google Search and go to any other site, the screen continues to refresh every 5 seconds. I have to exit my browser (Firefox 12.01) in order to stop it.

Help?

Thanks

Firefox does not normally refresh all by itself.

However, there are several add-ons which will do this.

The first thing you want to do is see if which (if any) add-ons you have installed:

1. Open the Tools menu.
2. Choose Add-ons.
3. Click the plugins tab.

Post which ones are installed (if any).

Gorb to the rescue!

Google Updater (I disabled this as a test, but no difference)
IE Tab
iTunes Application Detector
Java Deployment Toolkit
Java Platform

MS DRM (twice)
Office Genuine Advantage
Picasa
Quicktime
Shockwave
Shockwave for Director
Windows Genuine Advantage

Sorry for the delay in responding.

I don't see anything in your list which would cause Firefox to auto refresh.

What you can try:

1. In the Firefox URL field type:
about:config

2. Look for:
accessibility.blockautorefresh

3. Once you've found it, simply double-click on the key to change the value to true, and web pages won't be able to reload the page.

You can always go back in and reset it to false.

You can also try the Refreshblocker add-on:

Thanks for your help…again, Gorb. This never happened until about a few months ago. And it only happens on a Google Images results page. Another mystery.

Gorb -- if you're still checking this thread.

I think it may be java related. Yesterday I updated to Version 7 Update 5 and now every site is auto-refreshing…even with autorefresh turned off in about:config as you suggested.

Update -- I did a system restore to roll back Java to an earlier version. No fix. I disabled Java plug-in in Firefox. No fix. Somewhere online said to clear History and Cache. That seemed to fix some of the problem, but Google Images still refreshes then triggers same on all subsequent sites. After all this, it seems to be improved, but still happening.

I may have to uninstall Firefox and start over…

Running Firefox in Safe Mode with all plug ins disabled seemed to work, so I disabled all plug-ins one by one. Still happened. Then I disabled all extensions one by one. I think now it's TrackMeNot doing the dirty work, sending multiple random queries too quickly. That's why it affected Google first. Why it worked before and not now though is a mystery. Why Google Images and not regular Google Search is a mystery. And why the refresh carried over to subsequent sites is a mystery. But I disabled TrackMeNot and all seems to be fine. (But stay tuned…)

That's what I get for trying to protect my privacy.

Hi Schogun,

Was off on walk-about. Thanks for keeping me updated.

At this point, I would advise you to contact the TrackMeNot developer at daniel.c.howe (at) gmail.com to see if anyone else has reported this to him.
