I have owned the following console game systems;
Intellivision
NES
SNES
N64
Gamecube
Wii
Gameboy
Gameboy color
xbox
xbox 360
Playstation
Playstation 2
Playstation 3
Dreamcast

I have played FPS, RTS, Fighting games, racing, sports, fantasy, scifi, simulations, RPG's, and more.

I have saved the princess, restored the king to power, I have made it to alpha centari, I have killed the final villain and conquered the world. I have thrown touchdowns and slammajamma'ed my way into the record books. I have won without using the blue shell! I have collected the trophies, the access cards, the hidden treasures.

I have button mashed, time pressed, and I know the Konami code.

I have downloaded the expansion packs and lamented lost saves.

I have played the good and the bad, but now I cannot find anything to play at all.

I have looked in the stores and all the games seem the same to me. I have looked to the online stores and still I have seen the same old – same old. I have not been able to find a game to inspire me in a long time.

I am bored of online gaming
I am bored of competitive gaming
I am bored of solo gaming

The last 3 games I have played for any time have all been on the computer but playing them so much I have burned myself out on them.
MineCraft
Dwarf Fortress
Mount and Blade

My Wii hasn't been used in almost 8 months
My 360 5 months
and my PS3 now over 1

Having my youngest brother move in sparked a bit of nostalgia gaming for a few old games but I am so disappointed to not have anything remotely interesting to play or be excited about anymore.

So what are others playing that might spark some interest in video games again?

Once they gave you more buttons than you have fingers and toes I lost interest.
I loved the old NES and Gameboy.
I was very good at Atari 64.

Now it's too much like work.

BTWm you can subscribe to the NFL Sunday Ticket on your PS3, so do not need DirecTV, and can switch to Comcast.

I think part of what we all want from gaming is recognition of when we do something excellent. This is a feeling you only really get from a group of people who know you and the game, who can understand and appreciate what you've done. The most fun I've had with computer games was on a LAN with a regular group ideally in team play. Sid Meier's 'Gettysburg' set a mark nothing since has managed to reach.

Get a gaming PC. Lots more variety than on a console.
