I'm going out to Denver this weekend and looking for places to eat. I'll have a car and will be staying near the University of Denver. Quality is the main charachteristic needed and I'll rule out Sushi and Indian/Pakistani as well to accomadate my families' tastes. Thanks. |

Buckhorn exchange. Great steak and not only beef. Look it up for more details. The cost can be a little high. Last time we were there it was over $300.00 for four. Best book store for military titles new and used would be Aberdeen books. It's not to far from where you be staying and well worth the trip. If I could only eat one place and visit one shop in Denver they would be the two stops I would make. Vince |

Do they still do the Saturday night folk at the Buckhorn? Been years since I was there (I think four of us got out for under 200). The Buckhorn has been one of the 'places to visit' in Denver for quite a while. |

Even more impressive than the Buckhorn (and just as expensive) is the Fort restaurant outside of Morrison. It's about a 30 minute drive from DU and is well worth it. It's an adobe fort ala Bent's Fort and it serves some very unusual Western foods-built by the late Sam Arnold-a true Western historian and character. Buffalo, Elk, Grouse,Rattlenake, and other delicaies are served-including Rocky Mountain Oysters! Been there for 50 years. The G-8 ate there when it was held in Denver. Great view from the foothills of Denver. Potent drinks! Not far from DU-up North off University blvd. on Gaylord is The Washington Park Grill-with weekend Jazz and Northern Italian cooking-5 minutes from DU. Laid back-good crowd- nice casual interior-good food. Jerusalem Restaurant-just off the campus on Evans is very downscale-but excellent Middle Eastern and a great place for take-out. South from campus on University is John Hawley's for Asian Fusion-really good for Sushi as well. Up North from Campus off University Blvd. at Cherry Creek North are several restaurants-a great little French Crepe place called Crepes and Crepes on 3rd is charming, cozy, and inexpensive. Many other choices within a block. The Buckhorn is good-You can get their on the light rail from DU-it stops right in front of their door at tghe Osage stop. No need to drive! If you drive-be sure to park in their fenced lot-the neighborhood is not for street parking. |
