Lucas is at it again: link |

Don't they make mittens for kids who can't keep from picking at their scabs? Still, as long as there is a way for me to see the originals I guess I don't care. |

Yeah
but what about this audio change in RotJ on the new Blu Ray!? YouTube link |

I would support his every effort to improve episodes 1, 2, and 3. Ideally with the use of a half gallon of gas and a zippo. |

Now I know why Salman Rushdie got death threats against him. How dare Lucas tinker with the Sacred texts? Oh, wait. He wrote them

Hey, here's a novel idea George, why don't you do something new? |
Streitax | 02 Sep 2011 6:21 a.m. PST |
'Many would argue that the original "Star Wars" films were masterpieces when they were first released'. No, by the time we got to VI, and the little teddy bears, the wheels were already falling off. |
Streitax | 02 Sep 2011 6:24 a.m. PST |
BTW, John, while it is true he wrote them, obviously he was divinely inspired. His work on the prequels is clear evidence that the Force has left him, no doubt because he yielded to the Dark Side. |

Actually, sarcasm aside, this could be the start of a whole new art form; the ever evolving, potentially never-ending movie. In the future the potential for tinkering post post production will be ever greater. Why shouldn't a director want to continually improve their work? Even if he is wrong. |

On the other hand, the film already had a giant slug, the "galaxy's most feared bounty hunter" being eaten by a glorified ant lion, and ewoks. How could it get any worse? |
John the OFM | 02 Sep 2011 6:56 a.m. PST |
Did George Lucas do Blade Runner? |
striker8 | 02 Sep 2011 7:20 a.m. PST |
I guess this makes the South Park scene with Lucas, Speilberg and a storm trooper seem pretty much prophetic. |
Ditto Tango 2 3 | 02 Sep 2011 7:33 a.m. PST |
Yeah I was thinking of that too, striker8. To quote South Park (I'm quoting) "What a douche!" Seriously though, I'm sure at least some of us (I can't be the only one) have run the same D&D campaign more than once, or, at least, run campaigns in the same world we made up (I made up a flat world floating on water in which everyone argued that the world was round in the late 70s and have run the initial adventures three times – twice with the same fellows after a good 15 year break, once with another completely different group). Maybe what Lucas is doing is something like the sort of fiddling and improvements one might do before starting your friends off once again down the same road or a different one in another part of the world? -- Tim |

Well, I have heard this also. But I have also heard that this was bunk. I shall see when the box gets released next week (already pre-ordered). And wait til I see it for myself.

I bought the DVDs the last time Lucas "cleaned them up" because they also included the original films *without* Lucas's many "improvements" over the years. Works for me. Also, as my wife often says, quoting Voltaire, the better is the enemy of the good. Words Lucas should take to heart. |
Space Monkey | 02 Sep 2011 9:35 a.m. PST |
Actually, I guess we should be happy he's shown such restraint
given what could be done with current technoloy
he could go back and recast the whole thing with a crop of current hipness
Justin Bieber instead of that Hamill guy (whatever became of him?)
have the Ewoks break-dancing and add lots of shakey-cam/close-ups to those lightsaber duels. Oh, and make it 3D of course

Mark Hamil does a ton of voice work for cartoons now. |
CPT Jake | 02 Sep 2011 10:04 a.m. PST |
I heard he is also adding Jar Jar into many scenes from episodes IV-VI. |
Gunfreak | 02 Sep 2011 10:35 a.m. PST |
Out of the 6 things made by lucas, only 2 is actualy a propper movie, and thats empire strikes back, the rest of the things are useless, new hope is almost ok, but not quite, from return of the jedi with the allready mentioned teddy bears, it was over, finished, finito, fat lady had sung. |
The G Dog | 02 Sep 2011 10:52 a.m. PST |
Mark Hamil has a guest role on the upcoming (and final) season of Chuck this fall. |

Out of the 6 things made by lucas, only 2 is actualy a propper movie, and thats empire strikes back Irwin Kershner is the man you are looking for. Get the DVD's and listen to the commentary, Lucas warbles on about technical stuff and how he basically hates actors and movies, while Kershner talks passionately about how he cooperated with the actors, had them improvise etc
Two people, one whole world apart. Star Wars was great when people could say stuff like "Are you sure it's a good idea George ?" Unlike these days where he hears only "Absolutely Mr Lucas, Of course Mr Lucas, We all love Jar Jar Mr Lucas, You are the greatest Mr Lucas, that no is perfect Mr Lucas etc

What an idiot. A rich one, but still. Wish he'd try making some other stuff, instead of screwing up the originals. I'm still bent over the change to the cantina scene. |
