I loved his work on Tomb of Dracula, Howard the Duck and Nathaniel Dusk. His pencil work was simply amazing. I recently read an interview with Tom Palmer about how he approached inking Gene's work. He talked about the need to capture the flowing lines and subtlety of his work which evoked such mood in his pencils.

Ahhh, man. That hurts to hear. Colan & Palmer's work on Dracula was exquisite. Their work on HtD (along with Gerber's writing) made that title as well.

Now I'll need to do some web-searches to see how some of my other heroes from my teen years are doing – like the Buscemas, Steranko, Gulacy . . .

Sad news for old time comic geeks like me.

Shawn.
