and he looks EVIL. That, my friends, is how a supervillain should look.

I'm really, really hoping that this film is as good as its "look."

The Red Skull has been my favorite supervillain just about forever, and this shot is perfect.

Awesome! Fingers crossed for this one. I agree with other posters, this film *looks* right.

Of course, I thought Rocketeer looked right, too, and I loved the comics, but the movie never clicked with me.

Wow, really, jpattern2? I love The Rocketeer— it's in my collection and I get it out constantly!

Oh, I know, I own the movie on DVD, too. Hard to believe it came out 20 years ago! Like I said, the look of the film and the production values are spot-on. Most of the actors do well in their roles. The score is really good.

Things I didn't like: Jennifer Connelly is no Bettie Page. They definitely toned down the character's sexuality for the kids, losing me in the process. The film needed a live-action Jessica Rabbit in the role.

I thought the Paul Sorvino character needed to be more like Edward G. Robinson. He just felt like a very Disney villain – not really that menacing. It would have made his turnaround later in the film more moving and less cheesy.

The script was pulpy without being campy, and that's good, but the direction was just lackluster. Very by-the-numbers. very typical live-action Disney.

Ultimately, I just feel like the film has no soul, if that makes sense. It hit most of the right marks, but missed overall, for me at least.

Sorry to hijack the thread.

Whoa! I could have done without that last one, DD!

I was not impressed by the theatrical trailer I saw last month. It was too "glossy," too "happy." But in that trailer, the villians were Nazis in general and not this supervillian.
