So it's been a few years since this movie was released, it tells the story of how the Korean War effects two brothers.

The movie cost 12 million dollars to make but looks like they've spent 150 million, it looks great, has great effect and sound, really brutal war scenes, and a very sad movie, mabye the sadest movie I've seen, anybody who is close to their brother will feel this movie, move them.

It's not a black and white movie, it shows atroceties on both side.

Hm. It put me in mind of a Kung-fu movie in some respects. There was a lot of Karate going on, like whenever the older brother went into Tasmanian Devil mode and captured an enemy officer or beat up a whole company. There was a lot of sentimentality about family. There were a couple of major characters who heart-breakingly died, and then turned up heart-breakingly alive a few scenes later. I've seen those tropes before. But it was interesting to get a Korean take on the Korean War. That war had to have left a mark on the country, but we get very little Korean pop culture in the US, so don't hear much about it from their perspective.

One of my favorite movies of all time. Action is excellent.

Yep, good film.

It was alright. The Koreans wanted their version of SPR after ours and 'Brotherhood of War' was the result. If you like this, also check out China's 'Assembly,' set during the Chinese Civil War between ChiComs and the KMT:

I liked it too but didn't think it was great. I own it and much of it is worth watching. It is a little over dramatic at some points. The action is great and it does do a good job of showing attrocities on both sides.

I liked it, but I think "Assembly" is a much better picture in a similar vein. By the end "Assembly" almost had me in tears. By the end of "Brotherhood" I was getting a tiny bit bored and quite fidgety.
