I'm trying to plan a trip to Prague in 2011. I'm looking for any good rec's for things to see and do. Thanks!

The castle has a military museum and the site of a defenestration.
Old Town was never bombed so is one of the few Baroque towns left.
Beer – best in the world!

How long are you going to be there?

The city centre – Hradcany, Mala strana, and up to Vaclavak (Wenceslas square) – is stunning, but it isn't that big; everything is in walking distance. There are loads of cool pubs and music venues in Vinohrady / Zizkov (and a huge statue of Jan Zizka in the park there too that's worth a look). Vysehrad, which is a fort which holds the cemetary where most Czech national heroes are buried, is also worth a look.

However, most people I meet who have come to Prague miss out as they never look beyond the city. There is a lot more to the Czech Rep than just Prague, and although a lot of things may be too far to visit, some are easily reached if Prague is your base.

Nearby is the castle of Karlstejn – worth a visit

Then there is the "bone church" at Kutna hora, about an hour out of Prague and just down the road from the Kolin battle site

And Cesky krumlov is just gorgeous, and again easily accessible in a day from Prague

There's lots more – if you want more details, please just ask…

No timetable set yet, but probably before July. Awesome recommendations C.R. I will probably try to get a car so that we can do things outside of Prague.

I was there this past summer for a too short weekend. Very cool place to visit. Things are hopping all over. I had a blast and want to go back.

When I was last there, the military museum was at the entrance to the park with the Jan Zizka, and that's worth a visit. Also, you should check out the excellent Museum of Communism near the centre of town.

(There's also a very odd museum on Melantrichova, near the Old Town Square which is.. er.. not for the unadventurous. I'll leave further searches as an exercise for the reader, but results may be NSFW! :)

I'll second the suggestion to get outside of Prague, especially Kutna Hora. The ossuary is quite small but amazing… link

Other things to see: the TV tower in Zizkov (it has a spectacular view across the whole city, and the babies…) and the Metro system (really – it looks amazing, especially the A line)

Austerlitz is close by. Make sure you go to the Bivobar in Flaku. Oldest brewery anywhere. I can't vouch for the beer, as I am not allowed to drink, but its supposed to be the best.
