At first I didn't know where I would post this (since, to my great dismay, there is no board on The History of Mathematics--how can anyone take [TMP] seriously when we're lacking a board on such a fundamental topic?!), but I figured the Language board would have to do. So, how is this name pronounced? Is it close to "oiler" or "yuler"? Something else? Thanks! |

I pronounced it Oiler when teaching and a German speaking Swiss lady corrected me but I could detect no difference between her pronunciation and mine. x42 |
