Pete Rose simply bet on baseball-- not on his own team. That was against the rules but I don't think it was cheating. So I don't think he should have been anywhere near in the running for that list. |

All of this is out of date The number one Sport CHEAT is Thierry Henry . He admits to cheating, using his hand to set up a goal, and his team still goes to the World Cup. |

Pete Rose is a nice guy. Have talked to him a lot (lives in Boynton Beach, has a sports bar, likes to mingle and is very gracious ) As a player, he was everything you could ask for. Once, in Arkansas, I called my dad to tell him to bet the farm on FSU getting 7 points at Michigan (FSU won by 21). My dad calls back, says he was talking to Pete, and my dad mentioned what a great bet the FSU game was. Pete put his head down and said: "I had Michigan!". LOL! |

Pete Rose simply bet on baseball-- not on his own team. Well, he did bet on his own team, but always to win. Which proves he was a much better player than gambler. Pete always bet his heart, and not business. Still wrong and against the rules, but

The Joe Jackson one still es me off. A guy gives you money to lose a series. You proceed to to bat .375, have 12 base hits, a home run and NO ERRORS? How did you attempt to lose the game again? He should have long since been in the hall of fame. |
