Okay, so the BCS won't give us any love, but how 'bout them 10-0 Cincinnati Bearcats! What a great team to watch! |

They were my sleeper pick to run the table this year. We get lots of Big East coverage in Montreal, so I've watched them often. Kelly is an amazing coach. Did the same thing with Central Michigan before (now a MAC powerhouse). I hope they win them all, just to mess up the BCS a little more. |

Crispy, what's your impression of the odds down there on keeping Kelly? He keeps getting mentioned to replace Weis at Notre Dame. |

I was doing my postdoc at UC back in 1981-1985, when they were just getting serious about football – playing folks wy out of their league at their home stadiums to get the total attendance high enough to stay in the top division. Glad to see 20 years hard work pay off :o). |

We won't keep Kelly too much longer – 2 or 3 years I'd guess. And he's smart enough to know that the ND job is a career killer. They simply cannot compete for a BCS bowl year in and year out. They're not in a conference so no championships of SEC or whatever. They still act like it's 1978 and they're something other than an above average program. He'll pad his resume and i think he'll wait and jump to a big program at another BCS conference so he can compete for a national championship. Ya gotta ask, why would anyone really want the Notre Dame job anymore anyway? |

I think people underestimate ND's appeal. The guy who makes the Irish relevant again will have the best resume, ever. Not to mention the glory. There's also the fact they can shower you with money, that always helps. Great risks, but great rewards. It's a great challenge, yes, but a lot of coaches love challenges. Contrarily to most people it seems, I still think ND can compete, they just made bad hires after bad hires. Willingham kinda proved at UW he was not a very good coach, Weiss is proving it week after week, and Bob Davie, well, yeah. If Harbaugh can stomp USC and create a great program at Stanford, I don't see why someone else can't do the same at ND. They can still bring talents in, they need someone who can coach. And the way I hear Kelly talk about ND (notice he didn't just the door), I'm not so sure he won't go. Just my two cents. |
